Since I don’t have a lot of experience talking with clients, the first one that really comes to mind is Liam, who was actually my first successful deal. He wanted us to make some samples with their own design. At that time, I only replied that making the samples would cost $200.He asked me why a few bags would cost so much. It was the first time I’d ever dealt with a client who seemed really angry. I was worried he would just give up on working with us because of the price. But Charles told me that I just needed to explain clearly that the $200 was based on our time and labor costs. So I explained it to Liam, and I also offered to send him some of the samples we had made before. He understood and accepted the plan.
This experience made me realize that as long as you communicate politely and clearly, most clients will understand. You don’t need to imagine the worst and assume they’re being unreasonable. |
